Discover how things fly at the National Museum of Flight this October half term. Thanks to the support of Postcode Lottery players, families can get ready for take-off with hands on activities running from Monday 12 to Friday 16 October.

Visitors of all ages can test their engineering skills and build their own mini glider, or experiment with fantastic flying toys. Families can also enjoy super science in the How things fly show.

Steve McLean, General Manager at the National Museum of Flight, said:

“As one of Scotland’s best days out, the National Museum of Flight is the perfect destination for families this half-term. As well as visiting our spectacular aircraft, they can learn more about how these machines actually fly and explore fun STEM activities together.”

The support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery means that How things fly is free with Museum admission, offering a fun and educational experience for families exploring aviation history together. While at the museum, visitors can also take part in pilot aptitude challenges in the Fantastic Flight gallery and follow the Second World War Trail around the historic site.

National Museum of Flight is located at East Fortune Airfield in East Lothian, housing Scotland’s national aviation collection within one of the United Kingdom’s best-preserved Second World War airfields and home to a world class collection of aircraft, from a Supermarine Spitfire to Scotland’s only Concorde.
